Revealing

Abnormalities in Brain

Structure and Function

A Global Leader in the Detection of Brain Injuries

Innovision provides a cloud based statistical reporting system that locates and quantifies abnormalities in the brain. Innovision does so by comparing an individual's brain to that of thousands of age and gender matched normal controls using third party scanning partners all across the globe.

In doing so, Innovision provides clinicians with the advanced tools needed to better treat patients, as well as providing legal professionals with the information needed to best represent clients in a court of law. Innovision uses magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and magnetoencephalography (MEG) scans to reveal these structural and functional brain abnormalities.

Assessment of Gray and White Matter Brain Abnormalities

Diffusion Weighted Imaging

Our diffusion weighted imaging scans evaluate the way that water diffuses within the brain in an applied external magnetic field. These scans provide information about the integrity of the white matter tracts that connect different parts of the brain. We take this highly sensitive tool and add greater specificity to it by measuring an individual's results versus that of age and gender matched controls while gathering data along the length of the tract to reveal localized damage, not just a mean value.

MEG Brain Wave Analysis

Innovision evaluates the functionality of the brain by assessing wave lengths through MEG. Much like an EEG, an MEG is a very powerful scanner that reveals the presence of unusual brain wave activity, such as areas with unusually slow or fast delta and gamma waves. As with our structural scans, our functional work is conducted against a large cohort of normal age- and gender- matched controls. Innovision's statistical breakthroughs in this space are revolutionizing the way brain function is assessed. For more on this work, please see the Publications section.

Cortical Myelin Analysis

Our cortical myelin scans look at the chemistry of the brain's tissue and the amount of myelin lipid within different cortical areas. In doing so, we are able to provide information about the integrity of the microarchitecture of the brain's cortex. We map this damage according to functional groups (Yeo et al) to show how the brain's processing matter is affected by structural abnormalities.

Cortical Thickness Review

Lastly, Innovision maps the areas of damage to the cortex's wall. This type of scan provides a potential indication of inflammation or of neurodegeneration. Likewise, these scans are conducted against age- and gender-matched normal controls. While only 1 out of 15 people with brain trauma has changes to cortical thickness, this can be an important measure for assessing structural damage.

The Innovision Product Portfolio

Innovision offers a diverse product suite to meet the needs of clients. From one page summary reports, which help to confirm or deny the presence of brain abnormalities, to one-hundred page reports, which provide the full statistical analysis of the structural and functional findings, Innovision has a tailored solution readily on hand.

Resources and Publications

Innovision IP and the University of Kent have a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) through Innovate UK, which has produced exciting research. Our latest publication is

The Bayesian Inference General Procedure for A Single-case Test Study (BIGPAST) in the Journal of Neuroscience Infomatics, 2025

https://doi.org/10.1016/j.neuri.2025.100195

Our second KTP publication, Detecting Mild Traumatic Brain Injury with MEG Scan Data: One-vs-K-Sample Tests, is forthcoming and in pre-publication: https://arxiv.org/abs/2502.04258

Our IUK Statistical Research Associate, Jie Li, has also recently undertaken a major and impressive work, converting the Dynamic Causal Modelling (DCM) from MATLAB to Python. DCM is part of the SPM software in MATLAB and he has successfully translated the corresponding MATLAB code for both DCM for fMRI and DCM for MEG and EEG.

As a company comprised of working and active academics, our team members are also responsible for publishing hundreds of articles in the field of brain analysis and statistics. To learn more about their individual contributions to the field, see below:
